After graduation, Jakequeline pursued a career in communication and TV in Atlanta. However, following the events of 9/11, she decided to follow in her father's footsteps and became a firefighter/EMT. She dedicated 8 years to DeKalb Fire before transitioning to add an additional 8 years in DeKalb Emergency Medical Services (EMS) . During her time serving in EMS, she organized numerous community and employee events.
In 2016, Jakequeline became the CEO of ESTA, leading horticultural programs in local schools and recreation centers. She was honored as the EMT of the Year for Georgia Region 3 in 2018. In 2021, Jakequeline was the recipient of the DeKalb County Park Pride Inspirational Award, and recently was awarded the 2024 Nikki T.
